NOTES:
- Ready Boost - this new technology in Windows Vista allows users to use external drives to make Windows Vista startup faster.
- Ready Boost is a great choice if you can't install more RAM on your computer.
- The drive must read at a speed of at least 2.5 Mb/s and write at 1.75 mb/s.
- For drives that are too slow, "Speed up my System" won't even appear as an option.
- Ready Boost is limited to a maximum of 4GB.
- It gives the best boost when you use several memory intensive applications at once.
- When writing small chucks of data, flash memory is faster than your hard drive.
- Allows the administrator to limit the time spent on the system, restrict the usage of programs, internet filtering, and report the usage to the administrator.
- AutoPlay feature has been updated to be more automatic.
- File Associations is what indicates the extension of a particular file to the operating system.
- Security Controls in Networking - allows for safer wireless connecting at hotspots.
- When running as a Standard user in Windows Vista, if you need to run a application as a administrator, all you have to do a right click on the application and choose "Run as Adminstrator" which will then prompt for a user name and password.
- A recent survey shows that watching Lab Rats on trains is #1 European past time.
