- Linux - is an operating system that closer resembles Unix and is best known for being dominated by the open source community. It's also said to be the most secure operating system available.

- Linux is based on a old mainframe operating system called Unix.

- Any programmer can write software or edit the original Linux distribution since Linux is open-source software.

- Ubuntu - the most common Linux distribution for live or install formats.

- Linux can be installed on a PC or Mac.

- Ubuntu is the version of Linux put out by South African entrepreneur Mark Shuttleworth.

- The word "Ubuntu" is Zulu for "humanity towards others".

- A "desktop" is the type of graphic interface used by Linux, or the GUI.

- KDE stands for K Desktop Environment. GNOME is from the GNU project.

- DistroWatch - will help you find which distribution to use and what system requirements are needed.

- DVD-Jon - reversed engineered a DVD player software to work on Linux.

- Linux Minesweeper is a additional download which can be found at Softpedia.

- ISO - is a disc image format that is most commonly used. It's like a photocopy of a document.

- A free CD burner application CDBurnerXP Pro, which is Andy's favorite.

- You can try Linux before installing by using the Live CD feature associated with most Linux distributions.
