- ActiveX: is a active object language that was created by Microsoft.

- Drive-by download: any download that occurs without the user's knowledge.

- Microsoft Internet Explorer 7: developed by Microsoft and is available as a free download at http://www.microsoft.com/ie. Also, in Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 Windows Vista edition only, Microsoft developed a new security technology called "Protected-Mode". "Protected-Mode" will sometimes stop the ActiveX language too.

- Mozilla: developed Firefox, Thunderbird, SeaMonkey, Bugzilla, Camino, Sunbird, and Minimo. These free open source applications can be download from http://www.mozilla.com/.

- Opera: developed by the Opera Software Company. It can be downloaded from http://www.opera.com/.

- W3: stands for World Wide Web Consortium, a organization that creates international World Wide Web standards.
